Spearmint is very similar to Peppermint. Spearmint is slower growing and taller but has also been used for generations and generations as a culinary and medicinal herb. Like Peppermint can also be used as a ground cover to cover large areas under trees and shrubs to suppress weeds. It is known to protect soil and providing food and shelter for beneficial insects. It can be easily trimmed.
Spearmint can also be used in salads, chocolates, teas (fresh or dried leaves), cocktails and sauces. Spearmint however is definitely milder than Peppermint and easier to cook with as Peppermint who goes well with chocolate or bolder flavoured dishes.
